Rural tourism homestead „Gojus“

Anykščiai district is famous for beautiful nature and magnificent landscapes. Historians tell of Šeimyniškėliai mound where Voruta castle was standing. Early Lithuanian history regards the symbolic meaning of Voruta – a one and only castle built by King Mindaugas and retained in the historical resources. The place saw the destiny of King Mindaugas being solved here in 1251.

A little way of the mound remain scarce signs of the former GOJUS village – gradually ruined during Soviet times, through the building of kolkhoz, pursuant to the contemporary melioration program. However, time was gracious for one homestead which later revived and still is in the hands of the farmer S.Strumskis and family.

Although building arrangements and materials still match the ancient and traditional yard planning arrangements and building style characteristic to Aukštaitija, but homestead purpose is already different.

Building reconstruction was performed by a well-known Lithuanian architect G.Natkevičius and partners – all proclaimed across the Lithuanian borders too. Anybody familiar with the „pure“ style of this talented architect, shall notice some new, sight worthy and original solutions made for „Gojus“ homestead.

Rural tourism homestead now is a place for relaxation. Visitors are welcomed to find peace, hide from the uproars, fuss, traffic jams and other urban „advantages“.

Modern wood stoke Finnish and also steam (Turkish) bath, modest jaccuzzi, conference-party hall are often met at many similar places, however there is nothing better and more exceptional than a hot sauna with a view to natural nature and beautiful pond.
